Soccer Girl Probs (Thanks @edrik17 for sharing) - love local stories and tales @FairfieldStags

A few tweets. Social media. A love for sport. A wonderful sense of humor.

Bring it all together, and what do you get? Bippety Boppetty Boo.

No, you have the reason why students on Fairfield University's women's soccer team have gained a national following cultivated into a small business. I know that the boys of Syracuse - all fanatical about the soccer - would love the work they present. I'm not sure, however, they would wear Soccer Girl Probs, however - well, a few of them might. That might taint their near perfect reputations as ideal African youth (who also play soccer).

This YouTube clip would have been a wonderful segment to share with students in EN 11, too, as we've looked at sports as a means for building community and writing as a means for communicating knowledge. In 140 characters or less, they've established a phenomenon that changes the lives of others. Rather cool (21st century cool). Even Olympians have viewed their comedy. Impressive.
Their clever minds would have added nicely to Coach Johnson's and Kyle Koncz's insight on college athleticism and my parallelism between sport and writing communities....these girls are on to something. AND, if the grant I've been waiting on comes through, it seems they would be perfect guests for the Writing Our Lives-The Stag Edition conference that would bring high school youth to campus to talk about sports and writing. Stay tuned.

Celebrity for these girls. Thumbs up!
